METCALFE, Verna – Verna (Schneider) Metcalfe, 75, of Wellesley, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 8, 2018. Loving wife of Jim Metcalfe since September 8th, 1967. Beloved mother of Kevin Metcalfe, Jenn Wettlaufer and Scott & Tanya Metcalfe. Proud and loving grandma of Nicole & Shelby Wettlaufer and Nathan Metcalfe. Fondly remembered by Brad Wettlaufer. Predeceased by her parents Melvin and Cora Schneider. Sister of Meredith (Nancy) Schneider, sister-in law of Catherine (Ken) Richardson, Shirley (Jim) Loeb, and Ken (Bonnie) Metcalfe. She was also cherished by her nieces, nephews and many cousins. Verna enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, listening to music and keeping herself busy with many social events. She was a proud member of Hampstead United Church and the United Church Women. A devoted fan and executive member of the Wellesley Apple Jacks hockey club, a loyal fan of the Kitchener Rangers, a long-time volunteer of the Wellesley Apple Butter & Cheese Festival committee and a valued employee of Wellesley Apple Products. Verna will be greatly missed by her family, many friends, church family and the entire community. Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories at the Futher-Franklin Funeral Home, 1172 Henry St, Wellesley, on Saturday, August 11th, from 6-9pm and Sunday August 12th, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. On Monday August 13th at 11am, a celebration of Verna`s life will be held at Zion United Church, 215 Peel Street, New Hamburg. The service will be performed by family friend Reverend Brad Inglis and Reverend Tim Graham. Burial will follow at Hampstead Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hampstead United Church or the Grand River Hospital Foundation (Dialysis Unit).
