Thomas (Tom) Brian Jinkerson. Born in Chatham-Kent (Ontario) on July 24, 1948 and passed away in Picton, Ontario, on Monday, November 2, 2026. He was a farm boy who said that the scripture Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8, and the song Turn! Turn! Turn! by The Byrds, and its message that to everything there is a season spoke deeply to him.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Sharon (Bast) Jinkerson; his children Kathleen, Emily, Daniel (Lauren), and Pat (Elysha); his grandchildren Lily Graham, Lily Jinkerson, Clark, Lincoln, Lucas, Savannah, and Leah; and his siblings Barry, Brenda (Peter), and Debbie. He was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Eleanor (Smith) Jinkerson, and his siblings Gail, Marlene, and Darrell.
Humble, kind, quiet until he had a story to tell, and brilliantly analytical, he embodied the Christian principles he believed in. He was a dependable volunteer and leader in various church positions, always willing to help someone move or serve those in need. He never gave up on those he loved.
His greatest joy was being a husband, father, and grandfather, embracing his biological, step, and foster family alike. He always had a story to tell: pranking his siblings; achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer as a Sea Cadet; his individual and team athletic achievements; recounting his travels; sharing the magic number (6174); and the second-best lobster bisque in the world. He was well known for sharing photographs from home and abroad. He loved trivia and puzzles. He read everything.
He was a proud graduate of the University of Waterloo, where he earned a Bachelor of Mathematics in Computer Science.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at Quinte Health in both Picton and Belleville for the wonderful care he received.
The family will receive visitors at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 383 Main Street East, Hamilton, on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m., and then a light luncheon. He will be interred in the family plot at Stewart Cemetery in Chatham-Kent (4789 Middle Line, Chatham-Kent), with a graveside service on Monday, November 9 at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
