Obituary

Surrounded by family and friends, TERESITA (TERRY) COLAR GANIO STAHLER, passed away in her home at the age of 82 years. She was born in the Philippines as the first of 15 children to the late Theodora Colar and the late Tito Ganio. She was practically the second mom, a mentor and a shining example to her siblings: the late Ray (Rosita), Virginia (late Jaime), Rosalina (Ken), Frank (Lita), Lourdes (Leo), Tito (late Nerissa), Melanie (Carl), Merlita (late Danilo), Vangie (Brent), Tess (the late Kevin), the late Opresina, Violeta (Mike), Evelyn (Lehi), and Avelina. The love that the siblings share is truly magical and has been an honor to witness. During her illness, all the siblings who could, visited her, and they continued to create beautiful memories and helped with her care.
Teresita immigrated to Canada at the age of 31 and soon met her late husband Roy Stahler, together they had a daughter, Merry (Colin) and later became Lola (Grandmother) to Jaden and Maverick. She became stepmom to Roy's children, Marlene (George), the late Ron, Dennis (Darlene) and Gary (Carrie) and Lola to his 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was referred to by many as an angel here on earth. She lived a life of service, love, kindness and compassion. Her greatest joys came from spending time with family, especially the grandchildren whom she always referred to as her most precious jewels. She has been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for almost 60 years and has held callings for the majority of those years. She also opened her home to missionaries, becoming their adopted Lola while they served missions in this area. When at home, you would find her gardening, her love for all plants filled her home, inside and out, creating a beautiful sanctuary.
A heartfelt thank you to Teresita's palliative care team and Dr. Audrey Chan for all of your exceptional care and support during the last 2 ½ years.
In lieu of flowers, please do an act of kindness for someone you know, in Teresita's memory.
