Obituary

HACKBART, Ruby Elizabeth Caroline-Born December 6, 1932-Ruby Elizabeth Caroline Hackbart passed away peacefully, with family by her side, at Eden House Care Home on Saturday, August 13, 2022, in her ninetieth year. Cherished wife, best friend and loyal side-kick of Lorne for over 63 years. Sweet and loving mother of Brenda (Jamie) Dinsmore and Lynda (Laurie) Timms. Proud grandma of Aidan, Libby and Holly. Remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Edward and Nellie (Hoffman) Quehl and brothers Ralph and Lorne. Special thanks to the loving staff of Eden House for taking such compassionate care of our Ruby in her last weeks. We are also thankful for the numerous PSW's that provided in-home care for mom over the past few years. Ruby was the youngest of three children born on the family farm on December 6, 1932 in Wellesley Township and was a lifelong active member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. She was also a dedicated volunteer with the Wellesley North Easthope Agricultural Society for over 50 years. Over the years, Ruby was employed by the Forsyth Shirt Factory, CIBC, Hafemann's/Pym's Supermarket, and Barbarian Sportswear. Ruby enjoyed travelling, attending community theatre productions and dance recitals, gardening, keeping a clean and tidy house, crocheting, babysitting her grandkids, baking "gramma muffins" and was well known for her famous cherry cheesecake. She provided tender love and support to her family and was always willing to help her daughters with various DIY projects! Ruby's Celebration of Life will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 1123 Henry Street, Wellesley on Sunday, August 21 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. As an expression of sympathy, donations to St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Wellesley or the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated.
