DECAIRE, Roy Joseph-
Roy Decaire died on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the age of 72 after a battle with cancer. His family was close by his side when God called him home. On September 3, 1977, Roy married Carol Straus, the one who shared his heart and soul. For the next 47 years they worked together as they raised and supported their four boys.
Roy is cherished and missed by Carol and their family, Brian & Catriona Decaire and their children Madeline, Owen and Abigail; Rob & Kelsea Decaire and their children Isaac, Greydon and Poppy; Kevin & Jess Decaire and their children Logan, Mason and Natalie; Adam & Thea Decaire and their children Jack and Wesley.
Roy is deeply loved by his many friends and extended family, who will always remember his gentle warmth and kindness. To countless nieces and nephews, he is affectionately known as 'Uncle Roy', a title he wore with pride and love.
Roy was born in Mattawa on June 10, 1952, to Claire & Leslie (Nick) Decaire. He is predeceased by his father Nick, his brothers Richie, Rudy and Danny; as well as by Carol's parents, Eugene & Margaret Straus and his brothers-in-law Joe Straus and Len Henhoeffer.
Roy enjoyed spending time with his family, his grandchildren meant the world to him. Many family fun times were spent fishing, exploring the bush, and spending time in nature.
Roy was a skilled craftsman, working diligently in the construction and renovations of their homes. His boys knew they could always call on their Dad to lend a helping hand. When Roy wasn't working outdoors, he found pleasure in sketching and painting for his family.
