CANTLON- Olga (Bartkiw) -Olga (Bartkiw) Cantlon was born January 16, 1932, in Montreal, Quebec to Michael & Anna Bartkiw, who immigrated from Ukraine. Olga passed away peacefully at Age Care Brant in Burlington, Ontario on the Friday, October 23, 2026, with family by her side. Olga’s family expresses their gratitude to the wonderful staff at both Age Care Brant and Park Avenue Manor for the kindness and loving care that they provided.
Olga was predeceased by her beloved husband Dennis, who passed away August 21, 2023. Cherished mother of Ruth Mifsud (Dave), Paul (Saralyn), John, and Jane Wells (Keoki). Olga (Nana) was a loving grandmother to David Mifsud (Elisabeth), April Emberly (Colin), Michael Mifsud (Katie), Haley Lavigne (James), Anna Mifsud (Blake), Christopher Cantlon (Amanda), Breanne Cantlon (Michael), Jason Cantlon (Megan), Alyson Petsche (Colin), Noah Petsche, Shannon Richardson (Scott), Lisa Querido, Steven Cantlon (Jamie), Sheena Sanita (Alex), Zachery Ayers (Kianna), Autumn Wells, Iris Wells, and she also loved her 32 great-grandchildren. Olga is remembered fondly by her extended family and many dear friends.
Olga loved to cook and bake, and she was a devoted homemaker during her life. Her favourite domain was her kitchen (known as ‘Olga’s kitchen’), and she is best known for her famous and delicious homemade maple fudge that she loved giving to others to enjoy. A family favourite, was also her homemade stew. In her early married years, Olga enjoyed curling with her husband Dennis at the Burlington Curling Club. Olga’s strong faith in Jesus Christ was exemplified by her faithful service in numerous church callings, as a patron for over 25 years at the Toronto Ontario Temple, and her loving service to others. Olga was a friend to all, including those who are often overlooked or forgotten. Olga was even a friend to the birds, squirrels and other ‘creatures’ that she kept extremely well fed in the backyard of her Waterloo Street home.
The door of Olga and Dennis’ home was always open to others and for many years they hosted Family Home Evening for the Single Adults of the Church. Olga loved to sing! Olga, along with her duet partner Dennis, were well known for calling family and friends on their birthday to sing their harmonious version of Happy Birthday to brighten their day. Olga never forgot a family member or friend on their special day.
Olga was also known as the “candy lady” at church, and the children would rush to her to see what treat she brought for them, which often included gummy bears.
For many years Olga let her family and others know that she was ready to meet her ‘Maker’, but Heavenly Father kept her around in this life longer so she could continue to share her light and love with others.
Friends may visit with the family at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2366 Headon Road, Burlington on Thursday, October 29 from 6:30-8:30PM, and again on Saturday the 31st from 10:00-10:45 AM prior to the funeral service at 11:00AM. Interment to follow at Burlington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honour Olga’s memory by performing a random act of kindness to another. Olga always said, just as our Savior did, “love one another”.
