KELLY, Mary Noreen (nee Hagan)-April 15, 1933 – August 19, 2019
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Noreen. She died peacefully on August 19 in the arms of her loving husband of 61 years. Noreen was born in the Westport area to the late Mary (Grooms) and Stanley Hagan, attended St. Edward School in Westport and graduated from Teachers' College in Ottawa to begin her career with the Kingston Catholic School Board. She left full-time teaching to stay at home with her beloved children Mary (Jim), Dennis (Marianne), Greg (Dale), Leonard (Kimball) and Laurie. She was the proud and loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Leonard, her children, her brother Hugh and her sisters Isabelle, Joanne and Carmel. She and Len travelled extensively and enjoyed many wonderful summers close to her roots at their Bobs Lake cottage near Westport. She was actively involved in her community through the CWL. Upon moving to Waterloo, she joined an arts and crafts group. The quilts and other crafts she created will be treasured for many years. She struggled valiantly with Parkinson's disease for many years but never let it defeat her or prevent her from celebrating family occasions, most recently the first wedding of a grandchild. A memorial mass and Celebration of Life will take place at St. Edward Church, Westport on September 28, 2019 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family will be grateful for donations to the Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario in memory of Noreen.
