Mildred Marie Rupert (Roth) of Stratford passed into the loving arms of her Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, in her 103rd year. She was born November 12, 1922, in Wellesley Township.
Mildred was the eldest of six children (Esther, Edna, Nelson, Kenneth and Mary) born to Katie and Samuel Roth on their family farm just outside of Wellesley.
She eventually went to work for the Rupert family where she met and later married the love of her life, Lorne Rupert, in 1948. They resided together on the Rupert farm until death separated them in 1983.
Mildred was a hard worker all her life. She wasted nothing, told you what was on her mind, and always kept her word. She was a thankful person, a joy to be around and cherished fond memories of her time spent with neighbours on the farm. She knew many people, and when you shared a story about a friend, she was likely to ask you, "who are their grandparents?" just for context.
Mildred had a love for trees and tended to thousands of them over the years - well into her 90's. This included time spent in the bush at the sugar shack boiling maple syrup, which she would then finish off in her kitchen.
Since 2019, Mildred has lived at Anne Hathaway Retirement Residence in Stratford. Her mind remained sharp by keeping busy with daily crossword puzzles, visits with friends and writing in her diary when anything noteworthy occurred. She has kept a diary faithfully since 1980 right up until her death. One of her entries from this summer included, "Wasn't feeling too frisky today." A phone call with Mildred would often end with her commenting, "I am going to write this down in my diary tonight."
She is survived by grandson Scott (and Kelly) Rupert and granddaughter Holly (and Norm) DeBoer and great-grandchildren Cassidy (and Michael), Chloe (and Sam), Jesse and Chrissy.
She was predeceased by her parents, Katie (Brenneman) and Samuel Roth, her husband Lorne Rupert, her son George Rupert, dear friend Pamela Mank, and great-grandson Elijah DeBoer.
She didn't want "any fuss" over her passing, so we made a compromise with her - family and friends are welcome to attend a graveside service at Hampstead Cemetery (2127 Line 47 Perth East, ON) on Tuesday, September 16th at 2pm. An outdoor reception will follow at the Rupert Farm. Bring a lawn chair!
In memory of Mildred, please take time to be fully present with those you love, admire the beauty of God's creation and work hard at all you do.
You are going to be so missed, Grandma, and our connection to the past is now quite fragmented. But we are overjoyed that you are finally reunited with Lorne. You've been waiting a long time for Jesus to have your room ready. We love you.
