STECKLY, Marcella 'Betz'-Betz passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at her home at Nithview in her 90th year. She was born in Tavistock and predeceased by her parents Manassa and Mary Ann (Erb) Bender. She married Ernest Steckly in 1942 and celebrated 66 years of marriage before his death in 2008. Ernie and Betz raised their family in Wellesley where they owned and operated Steckly Brothers General Store in partnership with Andy and Mabel Steckly. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Judy and her husband Clare Wagler of Wellesley. She was the treasured grandma of Sherry and her husband Jamie Gaulton and their children Jonas and Hannah of Waterloo, Rochelle and her husband Chris Billings and their children Carter, Cody, Cooper and Chloe of Fergus, Beth and her husband Steve Baechler and their children Sam and Alex of Wellesley, Ryan Steckly and his wife Jodi and their children Ryerson and Matthew of Tavistock, Tanya and her husband Damon Johnstone and their children Ethyn and Evan of Wellesley. Betz is survived by her sister in-law Olive Bender and Mabel Steckly and her brother in-law Arthur Steckly and his wife Norma and lovingly remembered by Lyle and Margaret Ellison. She was predeceased by her daughter Mary Ann Ellison (1985), her son Ronald Steckly (2001) and her daughter in-law Rose Steckly (2000). She was also predeceased by her brothers Orville Bender and Wayne Bender and his wife Geraldine, and her Steckly in-laws Andy Steckly, Daniel and Edna MacQueen, and Norman and Beatrice Leis. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Betz was a member of Wellesley Mennonite Church. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing many wedding and bridesmaid dresses. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, and enjoyed a good game of scrabble. She was an avid reader, continuing to enjoy reading while at Nithview. Friends may call at the FUTHER-FRANKLIN FUNERAL HOME, 1172 Henry Street, Wellesley, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Burial will be held at Rushs Cemetery on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend. Following the interment, the Funeral Service will be held at Wellesley Mennonite Church, 157 David Street, Wellesley at 2 p.m. Pastors Kara Carter and Joshua Penfold officiating.
