GLOFCHESKIE, Lawrence Joseph-Lorne's family is sad to announce the death of their much-loved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather on Thursday, October 26, 2023. He passed peacefully into the arms of God at the age of eighty-seven with family by his side. He leaves behind the love of his life, Mary Lou (Lorentz), who he married 66 years ago. Also left to mourn him are Debby (Randy), Dan (Arlene), Steve (Jody (d.)), Larry (Karen) and Barry (Julie). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Darren (Courtney), Adriana (Peter), Marissa (Nolan), Kelsey (Matt), Patrick, Kaitlyn (Sean), Lars, Alex (Chelsea) and Morgan. Lorne had the great fortune to meet and play with his great-grandchildren Paisley, Aurora, Mary, and Damian. Lorne was born in Barry's Bay to Alex Glofcheskie (1996) and Anna Mary (Cybulski, 1993). He will be greatly missed by his sister, Gladys (Steve (d)). He was predeceased by his sister, Geraldine (George (d.)) and his brother Jerome. He was a loving son-in-law to Clarence (1991) and Helen (1989) Lorentz and brother-in-law to Joseph (Rosemary), Doug (d.) (Diane), Gerard (d.) (Barbara), Sandra (d.) (Brian), Shirley (Fred (d.)) and Robert (Giselle). His many nieces, nephews and friends will also miss his gentle presence. Lorne's life centred around his love for his family and his deep faith. He took great joy in getting together with family. He provided support to all his family and friends with a humble "let's do our best" attitude. He loved family camping trips and would pile everyone into the car, hook on the tent trailer and go. In later years, he and Mom would travel by car or plane to see who (or what) they wanted to see but stay much more comfortably in hotels and motels. Lorne loved spending time "in the bush" whether it was walking with family or in the fall and winter putting up firewood. And when summer came, off he and Mom would go to as many antique farm machinery or steam shows as he knew of. In later years when they were less mobile, he enjoyed drives with Mary Lou to see what the local farmers were doing. He found time to keep a vegetable garden too and had a keen interest in everyone else's garden as well. Lorne was proud to be a licensed Tool and Die Maker and was a long-time employee of Ontario Die Company. He maintained relationships with some of his co-workers and took great pride in being able to attend the recent open house celebrating the 100th anniversary of ODC. Lorne's family will receive family and friends from 1:30-4:00 p.m. on Sunday November 5, at the Futher-Franklin Funeral Home, 1172 Henry Street Wellesley. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Clement Roman Catholic Church in St. Clements on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, as expression of sympathy, donations to St. Mary's Hospital Foundation for Cardiac Care, St. Clement Church building fund or charity of your choice would be appreciated (cards available at the funeral home).
