METCALFE, Kevin James
September 30, 1970 – September 26, 2023.
Kevin James Metcalfe, 52, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Edmonton, Alberta on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Beloved son of Jim and the late Verna (Schneider) Metcalfe. He will be dearly missed by his sister Jenn Wettlaufer (Ryan Bowles), brother Scott and sister-in-law Tanya Metcalfe. Kevin was a proud uncle to Nicole Wettlaufer (Wilson Renkema), Shelby Wettlaufer (Wyatt Henderson) and Nathan Metcalfe.
Kevin had a love of farming and was deeply involved in the farming community throughout his life. Kevin owned small herds of cattle in Ontario and Alberta. Kevin was a proud graduate of the University of Guelph 'Aggie' program. Kevin's love for travelling, farming and fastball took him to Australia where he built many strong friendships and later enjoyed catching up on the phone or going back to visit his "Aussie family". He was the proud owner of his own trucking company – Redwood Bulk Carriers, where employees became more like friends and family to Kevin. Kevin will also be missed by his family, work colleagues, his cats and many friends in Ontario, Alberta, and Australia.
Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories at Futher-Franklin Funeral Home, 1172 Henry Street, Wellesley on Thursday, October 5th from 6-8 pm. On Friday October 6th, Kevin's family will also receive relatives and friends from 12-1pm at Wellesley Mennonite Church, 157 David Street, Wellesley before a celebration of Kevin's life begins at 1pm (EST). Zoom link of the service will be available ( www.futher-franklinfuneralhome.com ). Kevin will be laid to rest at Hampstead Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St Mary's General Hospital Foundation – Cardiac centre fund or 4H Ontario.
