Obituary

Davison, Joseph Shannon
Born: 21 March 1945, Belfast Northern Ireland

Shannon Davison passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026, with his loving wife Jennifer by his side. Shannon's passing was sudden after suffering a stroke, but he was surrounded by family as he bravely fought to be with them.

Shannon will forever be loved and remembered by his family. He was our rock, our inspiration and pride. He was always our laughter and joy. He taught us to stand strong and to love deeply, and this love was returned to him.

Shannon is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Jennifer; his sons Paul (Rhonda), Aaron (Kelly) and Ryan; grandchildren Paul (Jenna), Nicole (Rob), and Andrew; great granddaughter Nora, and great grandson arriving in July. Shannon was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Agnes and brother Stanley. His memory will be cherished by his sister Anne.

Shannon and Jennifer emigrated from Northern Ireland in 1967 to raise a family in Canada. With the love and support from lifelong friends from Ulster as a base, Shannon and Jennifer made welcoming homes and many friends in Bramalea and Wellesley Ontario. Winter trips to Dauphin Island Alabama, with Jennifer and his beloved dog Teddy, extended his group of friends even further.

Friends from hockey rinks and golf courses were a big part of his life, in fact, Shannon worked and played golf at his Foxwood golf course up until the week before his passing. Shannon also had many friends from his working days at De Havilland Aircraft and Mcdonnell Douglas / Boeing.

Shannon never forgot his Home, and was forever proud of Northern Ireland. His mind always sharp, Shannon loved to tell stories about his Home and his family at Home. Fortunately, Shannon was able to travel to Northern Ireland a few times in recent years for vacation, but mostly to be with family he loved deeply.

Shannon lived his life to the fullest and he lived life his way to the end. Never shy to share his stories and laughter, or to banter over a Guinness with anyone who would listen, he touched the lives of so many. True to his character, it was Shannon's wish that family host an Irish Wake to raise a few glasses in celebration of his life in place of a traditional funeral. This celebration will be planned for late Summer 2026.

Memorial donations may be made in Shannon's name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or to your local Humane Society.

Jennifer and family wish to send a special thank you to the staff at the Stratford General Hospital for their extremely kind care and compassion.
We also send our gratitude to Chris at the Futher-Franklin Funeral Home, Wellesley for his guidance and kindness during this difficult time.
