HAMMER, John F.-It is with deep sadness that we inform you that on Sunday, August 26, 2018, John Hammer passed away unexpectedly. John leaves behind the loves of his life, Janet (Dotzert), and their three daughters, Carla, Tonia, and Laura, along with their spouses, Dave Caruso, Mike Coletta, and Jesse Saunders. They brought so much joy to his life and gave him the gift of five grandchildren, Gabriel, Elliott, Oliver, Hugo, and Hudson. John had a great love for his family and doted on his grandchildren. John so much enjoyed the company of his "four" girls, but it was the grandchildren who made his smile shine.
John is remembered with love by his and Janet's families, especially his mother, Elaine, and mother-in-law, Shirley. He will be missed greatly by all of them. He is predeceased by his father, Bob, and father-in-law, Wally. John had a successful career with the Region of Waterloo and had recently retired. John had a passion for travel and he and Janet travelled to many parts of the world (and sometimes their family joined them). John also enjoyed the many hours he was able to spend working on the property he and Janet owned for much of their married life in Bamberg. A family visitation was held on Tuesday, August 28th and a private celebration of his life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity. This organization was very close to John's heart.
