Ian John Sellars, aged 82 of West Montrose, Ontario, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at AR Goudie Long-Term Care in Kitchener. Sweetheart to Carolyn (Lynn) Sellars (Smuck) for 58 years. Loving Father of Sherri (Andy) Pockett, Mark (Laura) Sellars, Wendy (Christopher) Caccavelli, Jill Sellars and Steve Sellars. Adored Grandfather to Tyler, Dylan, Nathan, Brendon (Alina), Evan, Bryce (Grace), Caden, Emma, Cole and Carolyn. Survived by his brother Jim (Barb) Sellars of Dyer's Bay, and Brother-In-Law to Larry (Ruby Kurt) Smuck of Kitchener, sister-in-law Jacquelaine Grover of Kitchener, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by his parents Wilfred and Gertrude Sellars (Atwill). Ian was born October 23, 1943, in St. John's, Newfoundland and moved to Kitchener with his family as a young child. He was a longtime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His handyman skills led him to many employment opportunities and endeavors over his lifetime. He belonged to the Plumber's & Steamfitter's UA Local 527 Union. He worked at Bruce Nuclear Power Development (Bruce Power), operated a hog producing farm in Bruce County and ran his own general contracting company. Ian had many lifelong friends who he enjoyed associating with. He loved music, westerns, storytelling and had a wonderful, witty sense of humor. A true, respectful and kind gentleman in all he did. He dedicated his life to the service of others, especially his family. We take comfort in our cherished memories until we are together again. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 10 a.m. till 10:45 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 10 Lorraine Avenue, Kitchener. Light refreshments to follow. A private interment will take place at Memory Gardens. If desired, donations to the church Humanitarian Aid program would be appreciated.
