REID, Hugh James - Died suddenly at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, on Saturday, July 22, 2017 in his 54th year. Beloved son of Mary Reid. Special brother of Marianne and Kevin, Rob and Valerie. Much loved uncle to Hilary, David, Jesse and Colin. Best friend to Angus his much loved and very spoiled dog. Jim was born August 4, 1963 in Kitchener and was predeceased by his father Donald (1986). Jim was very much like his father, always willing to help others whether they be family, friend or a complete stranger. Jim marched to the beat of his own drum – and he made many, many friends along the way. He loved Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Janis Joplin, fast motorcycles and fishing. He was truly happiest when he could combine them all into a marathon fishing trip to Rice Lake. Despite life's many obstacles, Jim always strived to be benevolent and kind. He lived each day to the fullest by never waiting for any one of the many storms he encountered in life to pass. Instead, Jim lived following the advice of Angus, Brian and Malcolm: "Living easy, living free, season ticket on a one-way ride. Asking nothing, leave me be, taking everything in stride." Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1043 Isabella Street, Linwood from 10 a.m. till time of Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Donations in Jim's memory may be made to the K.W. Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
