Grace Slocombe (Tuttle) was born February 5th, 1919, in Dundee, Scotland. She was the second oldest in the family. Her older brother was Albert. Her younger siblings were Peggy, Minnie, Billy and Mary. Mary is the only sibling living at this time.
When she was 20 she married David Thomas Slocombe from Crumlin, Wales.
She had three daughters, Mary McNulty (deceased), Grace (Richard) Clark and Glynis (James) McBride.
The family immigrated to Canada in 1957 as she wanted her children to have a better life.
She was the proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren. Mary's children: Barbara, Debbie, Sandi, David and Kora .
Grace's children: Lisa (deceased), David, Monica, Matthew, and Dara.
Glynis's children: Jennifer, Rob, Melanie, Heather, Kathleen, Alison, and Jonathan.
Great grandmother of 27. She was also a great great grandmother.
She loved her family and was so happy when they would call and visit her. She often said, "I don't have a lot of money, but my family means more to me than all the money in the world."
Having a great sense of humour carried her through many difficult times in her life. Especially growing up at a time where there were only rich and poor (no middle class ) so from the time she was 10 years old, she had odd jobs and gave every penny to her mother.
She sacrificed much for her children through the years, and each appreciated the mother she was.
Every member of her family will dearly miss her, but all know she is in a better place with her daughter, Mary and many other loved ones. What a reunion she must be experiencing at this time.
She loved the saying, "Safe in the arms of Jesus". That is where she is..
It gives us great comfort to know that Families can be together forever. She believed this and the family looks forward to the day when they will be reunited with her.
God bless you mom.
