SANTALA, Fred-It is with great sadness that the Santala family announce the passing of Fred on Saturday, January 6, 2024, surrounded by his family, at his home in Caledonia. Loving husband of 66 years to Ina (nee Blake). Dear father of Jim (Kim) and Janice Ehman (John). Doting grandfather of Kelsie, Ashley, Jillian, Sabrina, Breanna and Mercedes. Great-grandfather of Leo, Hendrix, Zoe, Camila, Gabriel and Otto. He is also survived by his sister-in law Bev Santala. Fred was predeceased by his parents William and Sara (Raijimaki) Santala and brother Roy Santala. Fred loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays and in his younger years, played with the Coniston Red Sox baseball team. He was born and raised in Sudbury and was the former owner of several businesses in Sudbury including Schoolway Bus Lines. At his request, cremation will take place. Donations to the Cancer Research Society would be appreciated.
