HEISE, Edward – On Saturday, August 8, 2026, Edward Herbert Heise passed away peacefully at the age of 93, at the Hospice Waterloo Region. Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Catherine Ann Heise (Cook) in 2023, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.
The beloved father of Kevin, Dianne (Ed), David – Daisy, and Pete (Su). Beloved grandfather to Samantha, Ben, Emily (Daniel), Nickolas (Priya), Shaelyn, Joel, Samantha and Sierra. Proud great-grandfather of Malachi, Carson and Evelyn. Ed was the dear brother of Katherine Heise and brother-in-law of Doreen Wagner (late Harold Wagner). Ed was predeceased by his brothers Wilbert and Fred (Marion Tennant). Ed loved spending time with his family and was always there to support them. They were his pride and joy.
Ed was caring, kind and loyal with a good sense of humour and a love of learning. He taught himself how to build, fix or rig just about anything and helped his family with numerous projects over the years. He enjoyed learning about new places in his many travels with his wife and his family. He enjoyed playing solo (cards) with the seniors, followed current affairs and enjoyed a good discussion. He loved music, theatre and festivals. Following his retirement from Schneiders after 42 years, he pursued his dream of volunteering with Labourers for Christ to build and renovate churches across Canada and with Habitat for Humanity. Ed was a man of faith and lifelong member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Wellesley.
A special thank-you to the Hospice Waterloo Region for their compassionate care and to Pastor Andy Schroth and Larry Gajdos for their prayers and visits. Ed will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Ed’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, August 16, from 2-4 PM at the Futher-Franklin Funeral Home, 1172 Henry Street, Wellesley. Funeral service to be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11 AM at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 3620 Nafziger Road, Wellesley. A brief visitation will be held at the Church preceding the service from 10 to 10:45 AM. As expressions of sympathy, donations to First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (www.firstsaintpauls.org); The Lutheran Hour (www.lutheranhour.org) and Independent Living Waterloo Region (www.ilwr.ca), would be appreciated.
