CANTLON, Carman Dennis-Carman Dennis Cantlon was born November 7, 1933, in Hamilton, Ontario and passed away peacefully in his sleep at his Park Avenue Manor Retirement residence in Burlington, Ontario on Monday, August 21, 2023, with his beloved wife Olga of 66 years at his side. Cherished father of Ruth Mifsud (Dave), Paul (Saralyn), John (Judith) and Jane Wells (Keoki). Dennis was a loving grandfather to David Mifsud (Elisabeth), April Emberly (Colin), Michael Mifsud (Katie), Haley Lavigne (James), Anna Mifsud, Christopher Cantlon (Amanda), Breanne Cantlon (Michael), Jason Cantlon (Megan), Alyson Petsche (Colin), Noah Petsche, Shannon Richardson (Scott), Lisa Querido, Steven Cantlon (Jamie), Sheena Sanita (Alex), Zachery Ayers (Kianna), Autumn Wells, Iris Wells, and also loved his 30 great grandchildren. Dear brother to the late Vernon Cantlon (Sandra). Remembered by his extended family and his many friends. Dennis achieved his designation as a Chartered Accountant (CA) in 1956 and went on to become a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA). Dennis spent a great deal of his summertime during his young adult years, and as a husband and father at his parent's cottage at Turkey Point where he did water skiing, boating, and fishing. Dennis participated as a member of the Rotary Club in Burlington for several years and loved to curl and play tennis. Dennis' strong faith in Jesus Christ was exemplified by his faithful service in numerous church callings, including a 2-year mission in Simcoe, and as a patron and Temple Sealer for over 25 years at the Toronto Ontario Temple. The door of Dennis and Olga's home was always open to others and for many years they hosted Family Home Evening for the Single Adults of the Church. Dennis, along with his duet partner Olga, were well known for calling family and friends on their birthday to sing their harmonious version of Happy Birthday to brighten their day. Dennis will not only be remembered for his genuine and kind manner, but also his quick wit, puns, corny jokes, Limericks, and unique mouth sounds. Yes, Dennis always said that he didn't trust stairs because they are always up to something. No doubt Dennis is up to much good already in the next life. Friends may visit with the family at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2366 Headon Road, Burlington on Friday from 6-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the church on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Burlington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
