Vollmer, Bernard Benedict 1940-2021
Bernard passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 in his 82nd year. Dear husband of the late Nancy Gollinger (2018). Lovingly remembered by his children Cathy (Floyd Ashley), Terry (Tracy), Tom (Lori), Karry (Todd Stark), Kelly (Bill Tovell), Tim (Sarah). Cherished by his 20 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Bernard will be dearly missed by his siblings Cecilia Kekish, Joseph Vollmer, Theresa Ladd, Michael (Marie) Vollmer, in-laws Frank Gollinger, John (Marg) Gollinger, Robert (Ann) Gollinger, Yvonne (Harvey) Kitchen. Predeceased by his parents Samuel and Cecilia (Haid) Vollmer, great grandson Kaden Young, sister Marie Dietrich, brother Ignatius Vollmer, sister-in-law Rita Vollmer and brothers in law William Kekish, Richard Dietrich, Stanley Dietrich and Chuck Ladd. Bernard was born and raised on a farm in Mornington Township, where he learned the value of hard work and his love for animals. He married Nancy in 1959 and together they bought a farm in Maryborough township and raised their six children. After retiring off of the dairy farm in 1996, they relocated to a little hamlet, Lisbon, where Bernard's love for farming soon had them purchase a farm across the road. In his "retirement", he continued to raise beef cattle, chickens, turkeys, pigs and cats! Bernard forever enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and never lost the love for farming, his value for hard work, or a rousing game of cards. He enjoyed all of these up to the days before he passed. Cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held at the FUTHER-FRANKLIN FUNERAL HOME, 1172 Henry Street, Wellesley on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. PLEASE NOTE: All visitors must show proof of double vaccination and I.D. to enter the funeral home. Contact tracing and masks are also required. A private family Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, New Hamburg on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 11 a.m. A social Come and Go will be held on Thursday, December 2nd from 2 to 4 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 8, 804 Ontario St. Stratford. All guests must follow covid protocol (proof of vaccination and ID, contact tracing and masks). Donations to a charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
