Barbara Mae Zehr
Passed away peacefully at Nithview Community, New Hamburg, on Monday, March 4, 2024, Barbara (nee Roth), formerly of Wellesley in her 95th year. Beloved wife of 70 years to late Nelson Zehr (2022). Loving Mother of Wayne and Doris Zehr of New Hamburg, Dory and Kevin Bearinger of Baden and predeceased by her son Roy (1983). Dear Grandmother of Keith and Candice Zehr of Tavistock, Ryan Zehr of Tavistock, Derek and Victoria Zehr of Listowel, Ashley and Brandon Wysman of Cambridge and Alyssa Bearinger of Baden. Proud Great-Grandma of Jordan, Landon, Nathan, Madi, Adam, Leah and Colton. She will be sadly missed by many extended family and friends. Predeceased by her parents David Roth and Barbara Jantzi. Barbara was born and raised in Wilmot Township. After marrying in 1952, Barb and Nelson farmed in Wilmot Township every single day for over 70 years. Barb enjoyed milking cows and driving tractors. She loved gardening, crafting and sewing quilts. She volunteered at the New Hamburg Thrift Store and was active in the church sewing circle. Mom was always caring to her family and friends, putting others before herself. Barb enjoyed being part of the Schmidtsville coffee club and playing cards at the senior's groups. The family wishes to thank all the nurses and staff at Nithview Community for all their care and attention offered to Barbara. Friends may visit with the family at the Futher-Franklin Funeral Home, 1172 Henry Street, Wellesley on Sunday, March 10, 2024, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Interment of will take place at St. Agatha Mennonite Cemetery, on Monday, March 11, 2024, at 10 a.m. followed by a Service of Remembrance at Steinmann Mennonite Church, 1316 Synder's Road W., Baden at 11 a.m. Pastor Louise Wideman officiating. The service will be live streamed, and the link will be on Barbara's web page. If desired, donations to the Nithview Community or to the Wellesley Food Cupboard would be appreciated by the family.
