Obituary

STECKLY, Arthur-Peacefully with his loving wife at his side, at his home at Winston Park, Kitchener on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. Arthur, formerly of Wellesley in his 87th year. Beloved husband for 66 years to Norma (nee Jantzi). Loving father of Doug (late Marilyn 2015), James (Andrea), late Kathy (2011) and Paul (Jessica). Dear grandpa of Jennifer, Jeremy (Cheryl), Melissa, Emma and Kate. He will be sadly missed by his brother in-law and sisters in-law; Lloyd Jantzi (Ruth) and Barbara Jantzi as well as many fond nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents John Steckly and Annie Zehr, brothers Ernie (Marcella), Andrew (Mabel), and sisters Edna (Daniel MacQueen), Beatrice (Norman Leis) and brother in-law Ralph Jantzi. Arthur was born in Shakespeare Ontario November 3, 1931. He moved to Wellesley at the age of 16 where he lived and worked all his life. He married his wife Norma on August 27, 1952 and together they raised a family of four in the village of Wellesley. In his earlier years he worked at the John Forsyth Factory and N.G Leis Mill End Store. Later years would see him opening up the "Little Thrifty Food Market" grocery store along with the love of his life Norma (located where Schmidtsville Restaurant resides today) He also spent many years baking alongside his wife and daughter-in law when they opened up "The Pastry Shop" in Wellesley providing the village with the finest home baking in the region and beyond. He loved all kinds of music and sang tenor in church choir and family get togethers. He loved spending time with his grand-children and time at their cottage in Dyers Bay. Friends may visit with the family at Wellesley Mennonite Church, 157 David Street, Wellesley on Friday from 1-3 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. Interment service will be held at Rushes Cemetery, on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 10 a.m. Funeral service will follow in the church at 11 a.m. Pastor Kara Carter officiating. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Wellesley Mennonite Church, Hospice of Waterloo or M.C.C. would be appreciated.
