GERBER, Arlene (Bast)-nee Lichti-Passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Barnswallow Place, Elmira. Arlene was born 89 years ago in Alden, New York, and is the daughter of Peter Z. and Carrie (Lantz) Lichti. Arlene was a faithful member of Maple View Mennonite Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years and also played an active role in the sewing circle. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Bast who predeceased her on December 6, 1984 and her 2nd husband Roy Gerber who predeceased her on March 11, 2014. Loving mother of Diane (Gerald) Roes, Marilyn (Gary) Zehr, Jane (Alan) Fewkes, Ronald (Sandy) Bast and Wayne (Sandi) Bast. Special grandmother to Bonnie (Brian) Steckle, Tricia Roes, Barry Fewkes, Dana (Jody) Broda, Lynn (Darryl) Eidt, Dale Bast, Kevin (Samantha) Bast and Jeff Bast. Cherished great-grandma to Dylan, Devon and Darren Steckle, Carter and Lydia Fewkes, Gracie Broda, and Olivia, Alyssa, Josh and Curtis Eidt. Arlene is lovingly remembered by Roy's children, Karen (Eoin) Nisbet, Earl (Eunice) Gerber, Sandra (Martins) Dike, Anne (Lewis) Straus, Orie Gerber, Lenard Gerber (Karen Hubers), Rhonda Gerber (Allan Grusie), his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Forever remembered by sister Annetta (Arnold) Erb, brother-in law Amos Gasho and sister-in law Esther Jantzi, as well as many nieces and nephews. Arlene was predeceased by her brother, sisters, brothers and sisters in law; Abner (Eva) Lichti, Anna Mae (Sam) Roth, Alice Marie Gasho, Harvey Bast, Allan (Barbara) Bast, Emerson (Lucinda) Bast, Edna (Sam) Gerber, Elvera (Walter) Hackett, Helena (Clarence) Miller, Idella Bast, Robert Bast, Erma Gerber and Ira Jantzi. Friends may call at the FUTHER-FRANKLIN FUNERAL HOME, 1172 Henry Street, Wellesley on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Maple View Mennonite Church, 5074 Deborah Glaister Line, Wellesley, on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
