KOEBEL, Agnes Cecilia (Quinlan)- Passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on Monday, October.31, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, at the age of 97 years. Beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Koebel of St. Clements. Loving mother of Carolyn Ditner and her husband Leo of Kitchener, Joanne Kraemer of Waterloo, Mary Ottman and her husband John of St. Clements, Frances Freeman and her husband Dale of Englehart, Dorothy Steffler and her husband Frank of Morinville, Alberta, Robert Koebel and his wife Susan of Linwood, Charles Koebel and his wife Darlene of Crosshill, and Tony Koebel and his wife Kathy of Linwood. She will be missed by 22 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, and her sisters Mary Bolen (Quinlan) of Toronto, Clare Stack (Quinlan) of Hamilton, Pauline MacDonald (Quinlan) of Toronto and sister-in-law Doreen. Predeceased by her parents Russell Quinlan and Hannah (nee Hummel) of Kenilworth, and her brothers Mike (Marg) Quinlan, Leonard (Edna) Quinlan, Bernard Quinlan, Rev. Lawrence Quinlan, and brothers-in-law John Bolen, Jack Stack, and Larry MacDonald. Agnes was born in Kenilworth, then taught elementary school in a one room school in Ayton, and then in a two room elementary school in Linwood, where she met Joe. They married in 1943 and farmed in Linwood for 33 years. She embraced farm life and supported her husband, as they raised their 8 children. On retiring from the farm they moved to St. Clements, and for the last 4 years Agnes lived at Barnswallow Place in Elmira. Agnes had an unwavering faith in the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She will be remembered as being the organist at St. Mary's Church, Linwood and St. Clement Church, St. Clements for over 50 years. She was a talented pianist right up to her last days, and would love nothing better than to play the piano while others sang around her. She was an active member of the CWL at St. Mary's Church, Linwood and later the Christian Mothers at St. Clement Church, St. Clements. Agnes' heart was with her family as she supported each one and brought out the best in each. She loved to play games such as scrabble and bridge. The grandchildren will remember her for having the whole family in for a houseful of merriment and feasting. She was so very proud of them. The family thanks the staff at Barnswallow Place for their excellent care and dedication to Agnes.
