ERB, Frieda-Went to be with her Lord, with family by her side, at Greenwood Court, Stratford, on Sunday, February 21, 2010 in her 99th year. Born on January 5, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Nafziger) Erb. Beloved wife of the late John G. Erb (2004). Devoted mother of Franklin and Jean Erb of Wellesley, Arnold and Annetta Erb of Brunner, Marjorie and Mervin Roth of New Hamburg, Helen and Henry Streicher of Heidelberg and Jean Ann and Cameron Jutzi of Kitchener. Proud and loving grandma to 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Frieda is also survived by her sister Marie Leis, by sisters-in-law Mabel Erb, Laura Nafziger, Katherine Erb, and brother-in-law Allen Erb and wife Norma. HAWTHORNE, Ferne-Peacefully at People Care Tavistock, on Saturday, March 6, 2010 in her 98th year. Born on October 28, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Amelia (Dahms) McFaddin. Beloved wife of the late William Allan Hawthorne (1962). Ferne is predeceased by her three brothers, Glen McFaddin (2006), Charles McFaddin (1991) and Wilbert McFaddin (1996). She is survived by her sister-in-law Helen (Voll) McFaddin of Millbank, nephews Robert McFaddin, James McFaddin both of Millbank, William McFaddin and wife Corey of Waterloo and Douglas McFaddin of Cincinnati, Ohio. Also survived by nieces Connie Gonsalves and husband Hammond of London and Deborah Kay and husband James of Stratford. She will be fondly remembered by great-nieces Sarah and Darcy McFaddin of Waterloo and great-nephew Nathan Gonsalves of London. Ferne grew up on the 5th Line of Wellesley Township, later moving to the 7th Line. She taught elementary school at S.S. 6 Wellesley and later at S.S. & Wallace. Following her marriage to Allan, she assisted her husband in the operation of the Millbank Hardware until his death in 1962. Ferne continued to reside in Millbank. She attended the Millbank Knox-Wesley United Church, actively participating in the UCW. Ferne travelled extensively throughout Canada and the United States as well as trips to Ireland, Japan, Korea, Finland and Sweden. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to visit wityh the family on Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 10 a.m. till time of Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at the Millbank Knox-Wesley United Church officiated by Reverend Krista Vandersar. KUEPFER, Marion-Peacefully to her eternal home on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Nithview Home, New Hamburg, previously resided at Wellesley. She was born on March 12, 1916, 94 years ago. Beloved wife of the late Benjamin Kuepfer whom she married December 17, 1936. They shared the joys of married life for 71 years. Daughter of the late Christian and Catherine (Nafziger) Gerber. She was a member of Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church. She farmed with her husband at Kingwood, retiring in 1975. Beloved mother of Willis of Milverton, Ivan and his wife Anna Mae of Millbank, Irene Kuepfer of Wellesley, Nelson and his wife Elaine of Kingwood, Merrill and her husband Laverne Zehr of Crosshill, Verna and her husband Nelson Jantzi of Brunner. Grandmother of 25 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. She was predeceased by grandsons Brian and Russell, one stillborn grand-daughter, her great-granddaughter Angela, great-great grandson Kylen, her daughter-in-law Kathryn on December 28, 2009. LEIS, Harold A. – It is with heartfelt sorrow that the Leis family announces the sudden passing of their beloved HAL on Monday, March 22, 2010 while curling. Harold Alvin Leis was born in Wellesley 85 yrs ago and was the son of the late Ezra Leis and Elizabeth Wagler. Harold owned Leis Feed and Supply until he retired in 1989 and was a volunteer fireman for 45 yrs, 12 as fire chief. He was a man who lived out his faith in the community and his church. He was a founder and member of Wellesley Mennonite Church, Hidden Acres Mennonite Camp and Pond View Retirement Community. To the day of his death he was active in golf, curling and horseshoes and prior to retirement, hockey, soft ball, slow pitch and tennis. He loved to challenge his children and grandchildren in these activities as well as card games where he rarely lost. Beloved husband of Ruth (Steinmann) for 62 years. Loving father of Gary Leis (Brenda) of Wellesley, Ron Wasylycia-Leis (Judy) of Winnipeg, Judy Johnson of Saskatoon, Sandy Poole (George) of Wellesley, former son-in-law Tom Johnson and predeceased by infant son Larry Michael. Ever remembered by his 21 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Sadly missed brother of Mahlon Leis (Marie) of Tavistock and brother-in-law of Gerry Leis, Noreen Steinman both of Kitchener and his nieces and nephews. Roland Mills, beloved husband of Joyce Patricia Marr (deceased) and Diane Ruth (nee Swan), passed away peacefully in the early morning of Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. Loving father of David (Sally), Diane (Mike), Peter (Barbara), Melissa (Aaron), Matt, and Murray. Grandfather to Jason (Lisa), Shannon (Jim), Alexander, Ryan, Allison, Lynsey, Tricia, Taylor (Anne), Sarah, Travis, Jacob, Mike Jr., Ashley, James, Patrick, Justin, and Madelyn. Great Grandfather to Emily, Gabriel, Kaylin, and Jackson. He was predeceased by his parents Herbert Alfred Mills and Mabel Brook. Brother to Mary and uncle to several nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. Brother in-law to Mary and John. Roly retired from Bell Canada and continued to pursue his love of learning throughout his life. He was an avid gardener, scouter, canoeist and knowledgeable business man. Roly loved people. He had a strong sense of understanding and touched many people's lives. His fantastic sense of humour and great sense of adventure will be deeply missed by all. Many thanks to all who lovingly cared for and visited Roly especially during his last few months.
